Achieving Success, Here Are a Series of Facts about Big Bang’s Comeback in the New Song Still Life

The latest news came from one of the famous South Korean boyband, Big Bang. This boyband from YG Entertainment recently released their single still life after a 4 year hiatus.

Comeback their last in 2018 with single Flower Road enough to piss off the fans. Even though it didn’t release an MV, this song became the last single before going on hiatus for so long.

The boy band consisting of G-Dragon, Taeyang, TOP, Daesung, and Seungri (ex-member), Big Bang has successfully won the hearts of fans. Proven song still life managed to achieve Perfect All Kill on various South Korean charts.

Fans were made happy, the moment they had been waiting for came. The members also announced the release of the single on their respective Instagram accounts. But who would have thought, at the moment comeback this time Big Bang did not decide to promote to any music show.

Big Bang is back without Seungri

The Burning Sun case in 2019 also dragged Seungri’s name as a suspect. Starting from Kim Sang Kyo’s report, the South Korean police investigated the facts. YG Entertainment, the agency that raised Seungri, was also investigated for alleged affiliation with Burning Sun.

It didn’t stop there, the South Korean police continued to dig up facts. Almost two years, Seungri underwent the process of investigation and trial by the South Korean Military Court.

August 12, 2021, the judge sentenced Seungri. He was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of 1.1 billion won (equivalent to 14.2 billion rupiah). Seungri was charged with nine charges, namely special economic crimes, sexual crimes, gambling, defense of prostitution, incitement to special violence, violation of the food sanitation law, and violation of the foreign exchange law.

This case is said to have destroyed Seungri’s career in the entertainment world. Until finally, Seungri had to leave Bigbang. “I have been contemplating myself for the past 3 years and I promise to be born again from this. I apologize for causing concern to the people of this country. I also apologize to my loyal fans, family, Big Bang, and YG Entertainment.” Seungri explained to the media during his 25th trial (1/7/2021).

Not Promoting

Although not doing promotions in various media or perform like idols, comeback Big Bang this year can be said to be a success. Enter the Top 10 Billboard Global Chart, song still life managed to occupy position 9. This achievement rivaled the success of BTS and Blackpink.

Enthusiastic fans, VIPs, helped create comeback Big Bang shines even more. Within three days, the song still life managed to get 34 million streams. Likewise with album sales which sold 29,700 from the release date, 4 April.

TOP leaves YG Entertainment

Through his Instagram account @choi_seung_hyun_ttop, TOP wrote a touching message to fans. This news also makes the VIP, Big Bang fans, have mixed feelings. The reason is, TOP reportedly resigned from YG Entertainment which has accompanied his career for 16 years.

“Finally the music is out. I wouldn’t be here without all of YG staff’s help. Thank you all for the last 16 years. It means a lot to me. I’m thinking, I might be going through another important turning point of my life at the moment. I look forward to the day when I’ll be able to come back as a man of inspiration in the near future. Once again, thank you,” wrote TOP on April 5, 2022.

Seeing this, tens of thousands of fans showed mixed responses. “We will always be here for you!” write @dro*****, “Thank you for being a part of my childhood. Good luck!” write @today****, and so on.

YG Entertainment’s Stock Soaring

Big bang’s return to the South Korean entertainment world seems to have had an impact on the agency. As evidenced by the increase in YG Entertainment’s shares, the recent times have fluctuated.

It was recorded that on April 7, 2022, a 2.4% increase in shares was received by YG Entertainment. Undeniably, the increase is the effect of Big Bang’s popularity in the South Korean entertainment world.

Several groups, such as Blackpink, BTS, EXO, and others, claim to make Big Bang their musical role model. Moreover, Big Bang has been listed as an influential group from 2009 to 2016.
